...SUNDAY JANUARY 16TH 1977
Generation X carry on from last nights
Roxy show with a gig at London's
Greenwich Theatre. Support comes from
the up and coming pop rockers
Squeeze
and
The Zips not to be mistaken with the
Glasgow
Zips who formed in 1978.
The Stranglers who have just finished recording the
'Grip' sessions that would produce their first single for
United Artists at TW recording studio with producer Martin
Rushent. They are taking a break from the studio to take
out
Skindles club in Maidenhead, UK tonight.
Today The Boys naively signed a five-year deal
with NEMS and became the 2nd UK punk band
(following
the Stranglers) to sign an album deal
(
The Damned had a one-single deal with Stiff and
the
Sex Pistols had been sacked by EMI). Although
Polydor, a major label, offered to buy out their
contract NEMS wouldn't allow it so
The Boys were
left to make the best of NEMS obvious limitations.
