Wendy O' Williams - Plasmatics
Wendy O' Williams was nicked after coming off stage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in January 1981 after
she was accused by local Police of 'unusual acts of destruction' and rubbing herself in a provocative
manner. Whilst denying this charge she was manhandled and received a further charge of resisting
arrest. She suffered cuts to her eye whilst handcuffed by both hands and feet. After a night in jail and
a visit to the hospital where she got 7 stitches in the wound. The Band and Wendy were released on
seperate $2000 bonds and immediately drove to the next show in Cleveland, Ohio where Wendy
collapsed after the show through exhaustion. But after more hospital treatment she was immediately
arrested again by the Cleveland police for pandering oscenities.

New York punk band
The Plasmatics was one hell
of a frontlady in the early 80's punk scene. She
would shock to rock by covering her skimpy outfits
with shaving foam attaching pegs to her nipples and
chain-sawing through guitars whilst wielding the odd
shotgun or sledge- hammer on unsuspecting TV
screens! She was nicked twice on tour for her over
the top stage antics in the US by dumb local cops
and banned by even dumber Greater London
Council for blowing up cop cars on stage. During
the mid to late 80's
the Plasmatics who were
famed more for their stageshow than for their basic
fast blasts of punk punctuated by Wendy's ultra
dumb vocal deliverys, turned to a more rock
orientated style as punk faded. However even this
wasn't enough to satisfy Wendy who's popularity
was now in decline. She and mentor/boyfriend and
manager Ron Swenson finally quit touring in '88 and
moved to Conneticut in 1991 where she took up her
largely unpublicised work for the care of animals in
a animal shelter. Rod later said "she found it difficult
to lead a normal life!", so it came as no surprise
when Wendy was found dead on April 2nd 1998 of
self inflicted gun shot wounds, she was 48. Can't
help but feel sorry for her!
