Zillah Minx - Rubella Ballet
1970's - 1980's - 1990's - 21ST C. - BAND GALLERY'S - DEADLY DUO'S - PUNK COUPLES
"Ballet Bag!!"

Rubella Ballet boasted two colourful punkettes in the early 80's. They were fronted by lead singer Zillah Minx, the pink haired chanteuse. And 15 year old Gem Stone on bass (daughter of the broody Poison Girl singer Vi Subversa). Rubella Ballet were more famous for their Anarcho connections and bringing an explosion of colour into the bleakness of the scene than their music at the time. However the music was pretty good with an angular early Siouxsie/Ants style but with a Anarcho update.
Gem also played bass in the short lived Fatal Microbes and was a notch on Colin Conflict's anarchistic bedpost according punk folklore! Rubella Ballet have been around for a long time with various lineups but at the core it's Zillah and long term drummer/partner Sid plus whoever they can drag in. They still perform sporadically mainly at big punk events and have gone into film production and techno projects when the band is on a siesta. Zillah put together the acclaimed 'She's A Punk Rocker' film documentary that is well worth watching and it interviews a variety of female punks and gives us a new perspective. For everything music wise check out their bandcamp page it has everything. https://rubellaballet.bandcamp.com/music
