JOOLZ

The flame haired Bradford based Bodecea  wordsmith. Who was described by Time Out magazine as "potent mix of humour, politics and aggression". After all she was the former wife of a Satan's Slave biker gang member for 4 years, before leaving the constraints of biker law and taking the safer option by becoming a  bouncer at Bradford's Queens Hall. As a side line she took up prose and embarked on what seemed like a continuous gigging spree spouting her poems and art all through the 1980's as a permanent support act to the clog wearing NEW MODEL ARMY folk punk outfit. It just so happens she was also dating their lead singer at the time. She was also responsible for most of the bands record sleeve artwork, including their distinctive logo, which led to other commissions. However she became best known for being one of the few female poets out the punk rock scene to cross over to a more main stream audience and released her prose on record at the height of her output on label giants Columbia and EMI, in 1985, before resuming life back in her end of terrace home where at 66 she still runs a tattooist, paints and writes novels and does spoken word performances. I must admit I preferred her art to her prose she never seemed to rhyme her words which I thought lost the impact. But she looks great in this 1984 shot!
