Mitch the outspoken Punkette from Sunny Blackpool UK is the editoress for the now very well
established UK punk fanzine 4 MINUTE WARNING. She interviewed me in issue #2 of her zine and
now it's time to turn the tables. Mitch in case you don't already know is also a contributor to these
pages via the 'collaborators' page. So without further ado lets get down to business...
Interview sent November 2002 - got it back March 2003.
I was reading your childhood piece in 4MW #4 about how you got into punk via Siouxsie and
the local punkette which I found very interesting? You were an early starter! What was it
about Raven black hair that fascinated you? And what do you think you'd have gotten into if
that meeting never happened? Is Siouxsie still an icon to you and if so why? Whats she got
that others havne't? What do you think about the Banshees reforming after vehemently
denying they would in 96? And tell us why 'Nightshirt' is your favourite track?
Siouxsie's image was very strong and powerful, unlike other girls in the music industry in the 70's and 80's. She was'nt scared to
speak out,or express opinions on things she disapproved of like the way the music industry used and manipulated bands signed to
major record labels, then spat them out again once they'd run their course. I can remembe
r her saying "I would'nt piss on the
record company building,if Polydor was on fire"!
How many other girl singers would dare come out with a provocative
statement like that ? Even today?
Of course her look/image was striking with the heavy kohl/massacred eyes, very theatrical and raven backcombed spikey crimped
hair.Nobody looked like that before Siouxsie. She was a figurehead of the female/punkette scene and just as important as Johnny
Rotten or Sid Vicious was at representing punk in the early years. The mystery side to the Banshees also appealed to me, They
were a band most people stayed clear of, Steve Severin always seemed super cool as Sioux's song writing partner, a lot of people
forget what an important part he played as the Banshees began to evolve, past guitarists like John McKay and John McGeoch
played a major part in shaping what the Banshees came to represent sound wise with their eerie chiming guitars, as did drummers
Kenny Morris and later Budgie on albums like'The Scream'(78),'Join Hands '(79) and 'JuJu'(81), All of which spring to mind and
bring back fond memories of my early teenage years.
I'm convinced I would have got into the Banshees at some point as I used to read the music mags like
Sounds, Smash Hits, Noise, N.M.E, Melody Maker, Flexipop and Punk Lives. Plus I was getting into the next
generation of punk bands which were springing up in 81 onwards. When I moved to Nottingham late '81 a
Siouxsie look-a-like did live two doors away from me. She lived next door to a mate of mine. It turned out the
punkette's father was the chairman of the local Conservative club. That we did find amusing.'Yes we used to
talk to her, Her boyfriend had a great leather jacket which had 'JuJu' queen and Sioux's head painted on the
back of it. Her records used to blast out at weekends until her father kicked her out. So I've met a few
Siouxsie look-alikes around that time.
Yes I still like Siouxsie.Sadly I missed the Graham Norton show.I heard she was on it.If anyone reading this
has a copy of it on video I'd love a copy of it (Grovel ! Grovel !).Fd trade something for it in return.I see Sioux's
not tamed with age as in that interview you sent me she mentions wanting to put the head of the culprit who
tried to deface the 'Body Worlds'exhibition on a spike in the Tower of London,! quite agree. It's good to see
She's lost none of her dark macabre humour Tee Hee.
Yes I was surprised as much as you were at the Banshees reforming. They have a cult following in the U.S.A
and recently completed a big tour there.I say good luck to them.At least they've aged better than some of then-other fellow punk peers.Budgie looked smart on 'Never Mind
The Buzzcocks' and unlike other guests didn't make a prat of him self. He's from St Helens like My late Gran(R.I.P).Just heard Nils Stevenson's died. That's sad as he was a
good manager with the Banshees( 77-82).As yet I've not seen any articles about his death.
'Nightshift' is a great song and captures the Banshees at their best back in 81.What with Severins deep bass,McGeoch's eerie chiming guitar, very haunting and Sioux's vocals
are quite bewitching, sort of mesmerizes you, especially when played live. The bit in the middle of the song were Budgie's drums bang repetitively and McGeoch's guitar chords
screech higher.lt sends shivers down my spine whenever I hear it.The song is based on the Yorkshire Ripper murders in 1980,well spooky!
Now your a respected zinewriter what would you say is the purpose of your zine in the 21st century? Do you find it hard to cope with
bands who just don't seem interested or don't even bother to write back with answers to your questions? What have you learned most
since putting out yer zine? Is it easier or harder work than you anticipated?
The purpose of 4.Minute Warning is to keep those punky people who are'nt hooked up to the internet, like myself, informed of what's going on in the
present day punk scene.A lot of people still like reading printed zines. It's always good to flick through a zine as opposed to looking up at a computer
screen and getting square eyes. Sometimes its frustrating when you send out interviews and some bands cant be arsed to reply,or even
acknowledge what you've sent. They plea for support, then wonder why nobody shows interest in them when they act like this, which is slightly
contradictive don't you think? Luckily for the few who can't be arsed, there's always other bands who are eager to respond and do interviews like
Active Slaughter and FistFuck.
What have I learned since starting 4.M.W, an awful lot, whether it's deciding what articles and reviews to write,or how to lay out and paste together
items on each page to make it look good and stand out.As you know I like putting photos in with reviews to give them that finished touch.Yes I'm
photo mad HA !HA !Yes doing a zine can be time consuming and involves a lot of hard work but it's worth it when you see the finished zine.lt
amazes you what you can do when you put your mind to it.sometimes I amaze myself HAIHA! it makes it worthwhile whenever I get feed back from
people who've read the zine.
Have you ever had to include donated articles etc. in your zine coz you felt obliged to if they were sent it in, but in reality you would rather have not used
em?
No I've never felt obliged to do that, contrary to what some people might think Tee Hee'. I pick the best reviews, drawings, articles and poems out. I even bin some of my
own stuff if I'm not satisfied with it. A few things failed to make 4.M.W. #5. I've already got interviews for issue six. An article/report about Proffessor Gunter Von Hagens
controversial 'Body-worlds' art exhibition and live autopsy shown on channel 4 (I watched it last night) will be featured in it, so be prepared if you're of the squeamish
nature'. Did you know Mick Duffield ex-
Crass did/shot video visual footage for the programme 'Anatomise' shown earlier in the year about 'Body worlds'.
Whats the worst chore in producing a zine and what gives you the most satisfaction?
The biggest chore in producing a zine is deciding what to put in it and where to start from scratch ,but it always comes together bit by bit though and you're not sat around
pulling you're hair out TeeHee!As I've said before ,the biggest satisfaction, achievement is when you have a copy of the finished/copied zine in your hands.
Any advice for kids just getting into punk or wanting to start their own zine?
Go for it !If you wanna have a crack at producing your own zine,as there's never enough printed zines about and we must keep printed zines alive and not become rare
species because of computers, modern technology and the internet etc. . .Though I'd imagine in the modern climate most young punk pups might be swayed more towards
creating their own zine website.I can understand that as it might not cost them as much as it cuts out photocopying, printing and postage costs.
I personally can't tolerate zines like Fracture. Whats your view on the more mainstream kinda zines that supposedly represent British punk?
Like yourself. I'm not keen on mainstream music mags, I still read Kerrang! as sometimes they feature punk album reviews and
interviews with
Rancid and Jello Biafra. Gave up on N.M.E ages ago, though I did recently buy the issue with Pistols 1 page gig
review in. In the 80's and 90's I used to buy all the music mags to read about bands like
Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Damned,
Jesus and Mary Chain etc... or special features. Only Record Collector seems to cover latest punk albums and band histories now.
Those Punk special mags by N.M.E and Q were good, but one criticism I had was why did they feature so much Elvis Costello, Police,
Blondie etc.. they were'nt punk, they were new wave. As for Fracture mag, I'm not keen on it, the layouts too clinical for me and it's so
full of record label ad's for emo and straight edge bands. I can remember Fracture slagging Suffragette off in one issue and completely
missed the point, they don't get it where punk is concerned, most of the bands interviewed are either indie or fall in the nu punk, baseball
caps and baggy chained pants category, you can't get further away from punk than that. Have you noticed how many bands interviewed
in Fracture end up in Kerrang!, maybe they're in joint partnership. Also Fractures layout reminds me of an 80's indie mag called 'The
Underground' Has anyone else noticed that?
Do you think Trev Hagl sold his soul for a bigger readership by letting his Fracture columns get censored or do you
think he tried to infiltrate from within?
To be honest I did'nt even know Trev HAGL still wrote columns for Fracture. He told me he no longer did it coz the editor objected to
his un P.C. columns, so someones telling porkies? I certainly would'nt stand for anyone censoring anything I wrote, I'd tell them to get
stuffed in no uncertain terms Tee Hee! I mean Trev recently had the nerve to say some reviews in 4.M.W were too fair (soft). So that's a
bit hypocritical if he's writing for the satan crew! I suppose he wants me to tear a few heads off and cook them on a spit! could quite easily slag the fuck out of everything
but it gets a bit predictable.Issue
5 Grandpa Johnny Rotten got a slagging off and so did the new dance mix of 'God save the Queen'but he failed to mention this in his
review in the latest issue of Savage Amusement and seemed more concerned in praising some right wing fuckwit who supports hunting/blood sports and the country
alliance shit bags. Maybe he's a spy in the punk camp and works for the MI5 and Special Branch (A. series on this subject appeared on T.V recently) Maybe we should
get Professor Gunter Von Hagens to pay him a visit HA HA HA.
Whats your views on Foreign Legion now? You gave em a helluva lot of
publicity, only for them to go and blank you big style at HITS?
Well Marcus has been in touch since. He said he was gutted at not meeting me, though we did chat on the phone when they were travelling on the motorway. Too be
honest it was chaos outside Winter Gardens, taxi cabs parked every where and traffic passing by it isn't the best of places to meet people and with hundreds of foreign
punks stood in the way it was hard to attract
Foreign Legions attention, especially when there's drunk punks swaying about. The security (Nazi Heavies) stopped you
from meeting bands unless you had a pass, though I know one local
Business fan blagged his way backstage and hung around with Micky Fitz and co,fuck knows how
he did that. Infact
Foreign Legion got lost in the motorway traffic somewhere in Manchester and later in the day Marcus' little girl had a bad fall in the school playground
and was taken to hospital,so the Legion had to rush back to Wales once they played.
I was more annoyed that day with arseholes who started throwing full pint glasses at people's heads. They must have money to throw around,! don't mind tenners and 20
pound notes thrown in my direction. Most of the foreign punks had been drinking since early morning and were well pissed by mid day.some of them ended up on
crutches and arms in slings, possibly including the young Swede punk who slammed into my elbow and felt the full force of it as he crashed back in the crowd.I had a
fever that day and possibly if I'd have been fitter I would have slammed harder into him and his cronies as I used to do a fair bit of slamming and pogoing in my younger
years.
I know you had a pretty dismal time at HITS 2002 with everything all told, what were the biggest
problems and do you think it had any good points at all?
H.I.T.S is just about making money, a lot of bands reform for it then disappear again until the following
year.I don't mind people making money cos it costs a fair bit to higher a bigger venue, they don't come
cheaply, but I think H.I.T.S has created a monster for it's own back.Winter Gardens isn't the right venue to
put on a big event like that, the P. A sound verges on sounding like something out of the Victorian age
and air conditioner-ventilators are non-existant.I don't think even a gas mask could save you from a
Chemical Germ Warfare attack. Even Tony 'crony' Blair complained about the lack of air conditioning at
Winter Gardens and caused a stir in our local paper about this subject, would you believe it's the only
time I agree with him on something. No I'm not going soft, I still think all governments are shit !(This was
during the Labour conference).
On a more positive level it was good to see a lot of Punkettes like myself stood at the front of the stage but I felt sorry for some of the idiotic shit they had to endure,at
one point I thought I might have had to practice some first aid on a few people, including a skinhead who got hit on the side of his bald head with a glass,if the glass
was'nt plastic it would have cracked his skull open and made his head look like treacle toffee.lt was good to meet loads of colourfjil foreign punks and the Scottish ones
were a laugh and very friendly,! hung around with some Danish punks, one of which, Steen, used to front
The Zero Point, an interview with him will appear in 4.M.W #6.
I'm still in contact with them. Hello Suna! They'll probably see this interview on the net. Also met Bazzy of Blown to Bits zine. He filmed some of the bands sets. I wish I'd
seen
The Varukers,Subhumans,Bus Station Loonies,Virus and M.D.M. though I'm glad I missed Special Duties set coz from what I saw on video they were
fucking awful. They should drop the childish 'Bullshit Crass' stance as it's a bit old hat these days and slag off someone like Oasis instead.
Have you discovered any new bands recently?, who you think the world should know about and could change the punk scene for good? Or has punk
truly had its day? Whats on your current playlist
?
South Londons Anarcho punks Active Slaughter spring to mind,Their 'Smash H.L.S' e.p is really
good,They also put a lot of thought into the subjects they write about like animal rights and piss over
most of todays street punk scene. We need more bands with hunger, aggression and passion for what
they believe injn my opinion this band have it. Anyone reading this interview check out the 'Direct
Action,Animal Rights' Benefit compilation for S.H.A.C and H.L.S that Jake and J.J put together as it
covers all styles of punk from
Conflict to Vice Squad. I look forward to hearing more of this band in the
future. When I interviewed them for 4.M.W #5 they put a lot of thought into their answers. I've had some
good feedback concerning that interview.
Another new Welsh punk band to watch out for is FistFuck,They're big Disorder and Chaos U.K fans.
Their bassist Martyn writes to me .Martyn's leather jacket back with
Disorder painted on it is featured on
the front cover of 4.M.W #5,They've just got a new guitarist, you might have seen them playing at one of
the Midlands punk picnics.check out their C.D.e.p 'It's not my ring,It's my wrist watch' I hear some zines
are whinging about their un.p.c name, so they must be doing something right. Both the above bands top
my current play list alongside the new
Discharge album which is a return to form and Cal's dropped the
wanky spandex metal vocals. The
Restarts-Slumworld album is good too and (Your pet hate) Foreign
Legion's
new album 'What comes around'is a good one with ex Clash guitarist Mick Jones on
production control. Also local punksters
Sick 56's new album 'Recipe For Disaster'.
How do you think punk today in general differs now from when you first got into it?
Well today's punk scene is a lot smaller than say 77 or 82 but at least the fakes and band wagon jumpers have been kicked into touch and those that got into punk
to pose have long since scarpered and gone back to their boring normal livestyles.I've met many ex punks, some have gone to the other extreme and turned into
new age hippies and grown their hair down to their arse and these days only seem to listen to crappy old Pink Floyd CD's, you see them in Saddle Records (My
mate Malcom's shop) stoned out of their skulls, how sad!).
I get a lotta of American readers to my site and I gotta admit most of the punks I've met be them in bands or through other sources are genuine in
what they say and do. Who do you rate on the current American circuit and why?
For you yankee doodle punksters here's a list of bands I rate from your scene, Aus Rotten (sadly these Anarcho punks split recently),The Casualties (shame
they did'nt play at H.I.T.s this year),
The Unseen (crossover Anarcho Street punx),Resist n'Exist, A-Political, Defiance, Virus, Distraught, Atrocious
Madness, Agnostic Front, Social Distortion, Youth Brigade, Oppressed Logic, Left for Dead
. On the whole anything noisy and angry, does'nt matter
whether it's Anarcho, Street punk or Discore/Crust. What I don't like is Nu punk, Emocore, Skacore or Straight Edge. Lastly I forgot to mention
Rancid (Especially
Lars HA!HA!) Mrs Armstrongs band,
The Distillers and early Total Chaos.
Do you think the reformed Dead Kennedys are worth our attention without Biafra singing? I've
heard both sides of the story, just wondering what you think about it?
I think you should ask Vitek that as he interviewed Brandon Cruz and talked to Pedro Negro. Klaus
Floride and East Bay Ray for 4.M.W #5. I was surprised he managed to blag that interview and they
agreed to do it and even posed for photo's. So you can make what you will of them reforming without
JelbBiafra. I can remember Biafra getting beaten up by some punks in the late 80's for turning his back
on punk and instead moving in a more avant guard direction. Mind you more recently he did appear on
stage with multi millionaire punk darlings -
The Offspring and that's just as hypocritical as the remaining
members trying to flog 'Holiday in Cambodia' to a multi national jeans company. Funniest story I heard
concerning Alternative Tentacles is that a Christian punk working at that label objected to printing the
lyrics of an
Amebix album 'Arise' they contain references to paganism...talk about pathetic!!!
Do you feel left behind by not having internet access? I know you've had sessions on there and wasnt too impressed in what youve seen, its also
not everyones thing and punk can survive without it! But I personally find the net a great tool for worldwide punk and have discovered so much
since. So any plans for a web presence from 4 Minute Warning in the future?
Not really. I'm just not mad on comptuters, I've had a few twinkles on the net, of course I checked out 'Nihilism on the Prowl' one occasion it crashed when Hog tried
to download some pictures on your punk portraits page Tee Hee!!!
(Vengeance is swift to plunderers - Don't Care) With Nick and Alex Brooke I went on the
body piercings site for a laugh and there was some wackos on it,one guys private parts looked like a studed wrist band.he had that many piercings, mostly
spikes.god knows how he sits down during the day without doing himself any injury. The Funniest had to be the queer/gay' Italian stallion'that one cracked us up no
end.We also tried car crashes and autopsy sites but had no luck.Though I bet the 'Body worlds' site is an interesting one, all those Plastinated bodys. Most people
only use the net for chat rooms which I think is a bit sad especially when kids are preyed on by some middle aged pervert, it must be a nightmare having kids and
watching or keeping an eye on what their surfing onto. That does seem to be a down side to the net, a few kids have already been murdered coz of this. You can't
get onto the internet at our Library coz the old people are always on them, they seem permanently super glued to the seats. No plans at the moment for a 4.M.W
website. A few years ago one ex 4.M.W contributor was gonna set it up and I agreed to him doing it but he's since disappeared off the face of the earth, I haven't
heard from him in over a year now. So god knows what he's up to these days, so don't hold your breath...
I know Conflict are a big favourite of yours. So do you think Conflict have become Hipocrites singing about Anarchy while running lucrative
businesses in private life. The rumours are rife but quelled by fears of intimidation, so a lotta smaller Anarcho bands won't spill the beans for fear of
comebacks, whats your view on their reformation and what lies behind their real motives?
Too be honest a lot of punk bands can be accused of being hypocrites.
You've got anarcho punks training to be Lawyers,Teachers,Computor
consultants or working for Social Services and even Civil Service.I've
even heard of one or two punks working in job centres (Traitors). There's
nothing more absurd than that. Others work in multi national businesses
and nuclear industry.
Conflict are an easy target for some to slag off and
it's a bit lazy and old hat, I personally take most of the
Conflict rumours
with a pinch of salt. lt gets boring and there's more important things to
worry about. Most of the recent gig's they've played were benefits for
A.L.F, Arkangel, S.H.A.C and memory of Barry Home (R.I.P). You don't
see many Street Punk/Oi or '77 influenced bands doing this. No one
slags the
Subhumans off for playing H.I.T.S two years running even
when Dick Lucas says in interviews he's dead against H.I.T.S type
festivals, so why did he change his mind, was it the money? More
recently
Citizen Fish released their album an a bigger major type
U.S.A label and sold the Bluurg label to it. I could go on and on but I
won't, l'll just say it's a shame bands can't get on and work together instead of stabbing each other in the back. I know some zines thrive on this sort of shit but I aint
interested in it, I mean it was bad enough in the 80's with
Special Duties V's Crass (onslaught in Sounds) or N.M.E's The Clash V's Sex Pistols and more
recently
Exploited V's Conflict. it's all a bit childish really, grown people fighting like ten year olds, we should be fighting the real enemy....the Government, Police,
System, Animal and child abusers, not each other!!
As for their re-appearance I personally welcome it as they liven the punk scene up a bit, what with all these non-political bands swamping the scene. Apart from
Conflict and Active Slaughter who else sang about the foot and mouth crisis and government propaganda concerning the barbaric way the gunmen chased and
shot those petrified animals? I know I'm going against the grain here, but I'm not gonna start hating a band cos some P.C mafia says so. I did'nt get into punk to
follow the sheep mentality and not do as I say, but as I do! That sounds just as fascist/Nazi to me. Phew I better get off the soap box now HA! HA!
Who do you rate in todays current UK punk scene and why? Any new hopes to bragg about to
the rest of the world?
As I said earlier U.K bands I rate today are Active Slaughter. Fist Fuck, and erm...Bus Station
Loonies, Anarchy Spanky, Dogshit Sandwich, In The Shit, Hotwired, Kismet H.C, M.D.M, Sick
On The Bus, Contempt, The Restarts, Sensa Yuma
.and Out Of Order,Veteran bands The
Varukers, Conflict, Riot/Clone, Oi Polloi, Disorder, Chaos U.K, G.B.H
. Why, coz they're all noisey
fuckers to blast your eardrums to and they also help inspire me when I'm working on 4.M.W zine, I've
probably forgot some bands but my memory ain't what it used to be at 34 HA! HA! Senile punks, Yes it
catches up on us all sometime in our life.
I've been given a STRONG tip from Jake outta Active Slaughter that the Inciters are a fucking
great new UK band to look out for
(and those claims are very true - Don't Care), have you heard
of em or are familiar with em?
No I'm not familiar on The Inciters,You'll have to tell Jake of Active Slaughter to give me the lowdown
on them, or your good self, Mr Don't Care Tee Hee!
(go to the review to your left - Dont Care).
I know this sounds a very pessimistic kinda of interview but we live in dark times especially in
the British winter so for a bit of light relief what really cracks you up in todays punk scene?
Loads of big fat punks with bright large day glo mohicans with their arses trying to fit into designer tartan
bondage pants, one of the funniest sights I saw at H.I.T.S was a 30 stone punkette in micro mini stage
diving and crashing into a load of young punks, they all collapsed like dominoes and the security guys
were huffing and puffing as they tried to pick her up I thought one of them was gonna have a heart attack
at one point.
Did you know young Harry Potter has gone punk,it was revealed exclusively in The Sun.apparently his
favourite band is the
Sex Pistols and he never stops playing Never Mind The BollocksI Maybe by the
time of the next film he'll have a large 3 ft day glo mohican/spikes and be slamming to
Conflict, well you
never know, stranger things have been known to happen.
What does life hold for a punkette zinewriter in todays macho lazy scene? Can your zine and
your idea of punk survive in the current climate without feeling even more dissolutioned? Who's
in the next issue? And if your not doing one what are your plans next?
Well I'm already itching to start on issue 6, as I said previously I've already got five interviews back for
it,with a bit of luck I might also have that
Conflict one sent back soon. You'll be pleased to know I ain't
packing it in,I might have up and down days but that's down to personal events that have taken place in
my life.I mean the thing that kept me going after two members of my family dying was doing the zine and
the feedback I got off people within the punk scene.especially support, it's much appreciated it's always
good to share experiences as another punk/punkette could be going through the same shit I went
through right now. Punk should have a community spirit about it and stick up for each other instead of
pulling each other to pieces, especially in times of a looming war.
The only way my type of punk won't survive is if this Nu Punk/Metal shit kills it off or 'Blunkett Plunkett'
brings in a new law to outlaw it. Talking of which here's a crap joke for you 'Where does Saddam
Hussain' keep his C.D's?.... Answer: 'ln a Rack!'.. .Awful ain't it but who cares?!
Finally what does the punk scene need to make it more accessible more fun and a lot more
interesting or are we forever destined to be stuck in our sheep like ghetto for musical eternity?
More anger, Aggression, Noise and Humour thrown in for good measure. Some would say a good kick
up the arse, especially the Street Punk scene which is getting a bit stagnant and predictable at the
moment.Thank fuck for
Active Slaughter! Most people seem to think us punks belong in the gutter, but
do we care about the snooty elite and their glass house views? No!! We're a hundred times better than
any of that lot. Money or Royal prestige don't make you a better person! 'Remember that, we are, what
we are punks 100%. Be proud of it!!

THE INCITORS
'Still No Future'
CD DEMO 2002
Brand new band here (to the Wolf's
Lair at least), from the wilds of
Norwich, UK. The Incitors were highly
recommended by Jake from Active
Slaughter, and you know what he's
dead right! They're a fucking very
unhealthy snotty addition to the
current tame UK punk scene. And on
this 5 track demo release alone, prove
we are still capable of dishing out the
dirt now and again. Talking of which,
they kick of with an anthemic Dirt
sounding duel male/female vocal
attack, called 'Mummy Said'. But
unlike Dirt, the Incitors possess a
really big beefy guitar sound to add
fuel to their very snotty salvos. And if
you've heard Dirt that makes all the
difference. Even the camp comic
intros before each song are very well
chosen too. This is a band with a lotta
shit to to kick, as well as a dry sensa
yuma hidden beneath the rage. Now if
like me you were a champion of that
classic early Discharge guitar sound,
you'll fuckin love these, as they mix big
riffs with big digs of Anarcho protest,
so you get the best of both worlds.
This really comes to the front on 'Live
On CNN'. See even the song titles
conjure up interest. The snotty male
vocal sounds like a very pissed off
Malcolm Owen (The Ruts) in places
and takes precedence as they chug
into their best track of the bunch, the
really impressive 'Sadist'. Were
dragged like a piece of shit through an
animals viewpoint of the torture they
dish out in these vivisection labs. It's
got a fucking great catchy chorus of
"Sadistic Sadistic Sadistic
Scientist", that'll have ya singing
along to before you've even lit the
petrol bomb outside H.L.S. The
Incitors are a band who hate coppers
too, which won't lose em any brownie
points in this neck of the system. But
what I like best about em is their heavy
style. They can incite a tune as well as
a riot, and that ability together makes
for a very lethal cocktail on record. As
the high pitched female vocal swaps
tales of CCTV invasion of privacy and
high profile policing on our streets, the
male vocals spits out very fittingly
"they're gonna get'cha!" They close
proceedings with a frantic cover of the
Partisans 'Police Story', just to show
they got pedigree too. Impressive
debut and a band to look out for. Got
no bands details or address?, but I'm
sure a web presence is only a matter
of time!
